Freebie // I Want Crazy // Desktop Background

I was raised by these two.

I didn’t need some viral blog post to tell me that my parents? They’re not in the majority these days.

When “I Want Crazy” by Hunter Hayes first came out, it was just a catchy song. Perfectly timed to match the rhythm of my heart on sun-splattered highways, windows down and sunroof open. It was the kind of song that makes caravans of soccer moms + sweaty sons look over in confusion because they’ve either forgotten that kind of freedom or have yet to experience it.

Then, though, I started thinking about the ways in which we give in for something less. The ways we stay up at night sure this sort of love song ain’t got time for our lips or our fingertips drumming on the dashboard at red lights and stop signs and parking lot backups. I started trying to tell myself, the way so many of us do, that this would just be a song, not a statement.

But at the risk of sounding crazy, it is. More than that, I mean. It’s the thread winding itself through my veins. It’s the promise I have for all the people I love in this life: that they be blessed with something so good it fills them with fear that they’ll lose it, that they’ll wake up without it.

And so, if you are doing the hokey pokey with your life, the people you want to love but aren’t sure about, this desktop background is for you. Grab it. Open up your laptop with your mug of coffee and big bowl of Fruit Loops and know that you are going to be a lucky little charm someday. That you are going to give your heart out in a way that makes reckless cliff-hugging driving feel sedated.
